Giel had an interview - in dutch - with Carice this morning. He called her while she was preparing to start filming “Game of Thrones”. Giel also debuted her debut single “Emily” for the first time on the dutch radio. Be sure to watch and listen to it below.

Carice has released her first single from her debut album See You on the Ice and it’s called Emily. Be sure to check out the song (and the videoclip) below. See You on the Ice will be released in The Netherlands on September 28.

The official schedule for the Toronto International Film Festival was announced earlier today. Carice’s movie “Jackie” is selected for the festival - which runs from September 6 to 16 - and will be screened the first time September 7. Carice, her sister and co-star Jelka and director Antoinette Beumer are expected to attend the festival according to the official press release.

PROGRAMMER’S NOTE
Raised in Amsterdam by a gay couple, twins Sofie and Daan (played by real-life sisters Carice and Jelka van Houten) could not be more different. Sofie is an uncompromising workaholic with few close relationships; Daan, meanwhile, is a warm free spirit, but is married to a man who doesn’t share her outlook on life. Despite their pronounced dissimilarities, the sisters have been able to maintain a close bond over the years — but when they receive an out-of-the-blue phone call from Jackie, the biological mother they have never met (Academy Award® winner Holly Hunter), personalities clash, values are tested, and cultures collide.

When the perennially enthusiastic Daan manages to coax the reluctant Sofie to the U.S. to finally meet their mother, neither sister is prepared for what awaits them. A former hippie living in a rundown mobile home, Jackie is gruff, standoffish and, at first, refuses to speak — and this despite the fact that she needs her long-estranged progeny to drive her to a faraway rehabilitation centre to get treatment for her severely fractured leg. But the task turns out to be more difficult than anticipated. Over the course of the journey, as the women bond over snake bites, country karaoke bars, and a night spent stranded in the desert, Jackie’s down-to-earth approach to life tests the connection between the contrasting sisters, and causes them to re-evaluate the relationships back home that may not be working — and Jackie gathers the courage to confront the regrets of her checkered past.

It’s hard to imagine a more ideal trio of actresses for this story. Carice van Houten has already attracted international attention with her star-making performance in Paul Verhoeven’s Black Book, and she is fully matched by her younger sister Jelka, making a sterling debut on the international scene after her extensive work in Dutch film and television. The always compelling Hunter, meanwhile, is magnetic as the nearly silent matriarch of this fractured clan. Under the assured direction of Antoinette Beumer, Jackie is a stirring, cross-cultural take on the classic American road movie.

“Jackie” was selected for the Toronto International Film Festival. The movie will have it’s international premiere during the festival.

Carice released a preview of “Siren or the Sea”. We assume it’s the first single of her upcoming debut album. I can’t wait to hear the full version, this sounds promising!
